The Alcantara ("bridge" from the Arabic) initiative is a dedicated instrument to support international partnerships in applied space research for scientific and technical capacity building. The target communities for this initiative are European academic researchgroups with a proven experience in conducting research on topics with an international reach and a demonstrated track record in working with academic and research institutions beyond ESA Member States. These European groups will be requested to provide evidence of such working links with academic entities outside the Agency's Member States. The general objectives of the Alcantara initiative are: - To perform frequent scientific and technical studies of relevance to ESA programmes with a focus on applied space researchinregions beyond ESA Member States, in collaboration with researchers in those regions. - To support work of emerging research leaders within the international community, while giving them a chance to contribute to ESA's activities, programmes and priorities. -To facilitate the involvement of leading European researchers who are part of research groups with demonstrated experience in working with partners beyond ESA Member States. The objective of this specific Alcantara AO is to perform the specific studies being requested, which are described in the Annex A to the SoW in this ITT which deal with data processing and utilisation in the domains of EarthObservation and GNSS.
