After completing her mission aboard of the International Space Station (ISS), Samantha Cristoforetti will land on the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Thursday, 11 June, at 16:43 Romania time, 19:43 Kazakhstan time, together with the Russian Soyuz commander Anton Shkaplerov and NASA astronaut Terry Virts, all three part of the Station’s Expedition 42/43 crew.

Professional app developers from across Europe are invited to apply for the 2015 Space App Camp organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) in order to create awareness for the possibilities offered by the European Earth Observation Programme Copernicus - Global Monitoring for Environment and Security. Following the registration deadline on 22 July, ESA will select 20 developers to attend the 4th edition of the event, which will take place on 14–21 September at ESA’s ESRIN centre in Frascati, Italy.

Today marks 34 years since the first and only flight of a Romanian cosmonaut in space so far, Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu, within the Intercosmos program. Launched on 14 May 1981 at 20:16 Romania time having on board together with the Romanian cosmonaut the Russian commander Leonid Popov, the Soyuz 40 spacecraft coupled to the orbital complex Saliut 6 on 15 May at 21:50 Romania time.
