The Romanian Space Agency at Space Days in Kazakhstan

Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu, the Honorary President of the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) participated at the Space Days in Kazakhstan International Forum, organised between 12 and 13 November 2019. Held in the capital, Nur-Sultan (former Astana), the event brought together more than 400 representatives of space departments and government agencies, scientists and space technology experts from 40 countries.

During the event, on 12 November, Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu attended the meeting of the Group of UN Governmental Experts on further effective measures for the prevention of an arms race in outer space (PAROS). The Group was established in 2017 to consider and make recommendations on an international legally binding instrument on the prevention of an arms race in outer space, including on the prevention of the placement of weapons in outer space.

The Space Days approached issues about the further development of the Baikonur space complex, the effective use of the results of space activities to solve the problems of economic sectors, as well as prospects for international cooperation and industry development. The topic of this year was dedicated to the oldest cosmodrome in the world — Baikonur.

The Space Days in Kazakhstan International Forum has been held annually since 2013. Participants from this year included heads of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, Parliament members, cosmonauts, representatives of the diplomatic corps, representatives of institutions such as Roscosmos, Airbus Defense and Space, Transtelecom, One Web, Thales Alenia Space, SES, Leica Geosystems, Satrec Initiative, Eutelsat, etc.
