As Regional Associate, the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) invites Romanian entrepreneurs, researchers and professionals in higher education to enter the 2017 Copernicus Masters Competition. Organised by the European Space Agency (ESA) in partnership with the European Commission, the competition offers prizes with an overall value of 1.5 million euro for outstanding ideas, applications and business concepts using Earth Observation data. Applications are open until 30 June 2017.
Copernicus Masters is the largest competition in the field of commercial use of Earth Observation data. The first edition took place in 2011 at the initiative of ESA. The idea was triggered by the development of Europe’s Copernicus programme and its Sentinel satellites, which have led to the accelerated development of products and applications in an increasing range of business fields.
Awards have tripled since last year. In addition to the 1.5 million euro awarded for different challenges, ESA has launched a Sentinel Small Satellite Challenge that offers 1 million euro to design and develop a satellite, free launch services and a cash prize of 10 000 euro.
In order to participate at this competition, those interested are invited to register on the official website of the Copernicus Masters.
