Inauguration of ESA’s Near-Earth Object Coordination Centre at ESRIN

on 17 May 2013

The European Space Agency (ESA) inaugurates a Near-Earth Object Coordination Centre at ESRIN (Frascati, Italy) on 22 May 2013. This is the second centre to be opened under the Agency’s Space Situational Awareness (SSA) programme after the Space Weather Coordination Centre that was inaugurated in Brussels last month. The Near-Earth Object Coordination Centre (NEO-CC) of ESA will serve as the central access point to a network of European NEO data sources and information providers being established under ESA’s SSA Programme.

In Romania, the Romanian Space Agency holds events to raise the visibility and understanding of this field, as well as to grow a scientific and industrial community in the SSA area, which would enable Romania to enter European partnerships and projects.

The event will be streamed live via the ESA website.
