Online meeting with Aurora Simionescu, researcher

on 03 June 2020

The Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) invites you to attend an online meeting with researcher Aurora Simionescu, researcher at the Netherlands Institute for Space Research. The talk with the title „The Universe through Superman’s Eyes” will take place on Friday, 5 June 2020.

The event is organised by ESERO, a project of the European Space Agency (ESA) in collaboration with ROSA, and can be followed live on the ESERO Romania Facebook page.

Dr. Aurora Simionescu is a researcher at the Netherlands Institute for Space Research, with over 10 years of experience in high energy astrophysics. After graduating from the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, Germany in 2009, Dr. Simionescu worked as an astrophysicist at Stanford University and the Japanese Space Agency (JAXA) and then returned to Europe for her current role. Aurora Simionescu will show us the Universe in a completely different light, using X-ray wavelengths. With the help of high-performance space telescopes launched by ESA, NASA and JAXA, astronomers x-ray the sky and are thus able to distinguish details that would otherwise remain invisible in the optical spectrum. We invite you to search the hidden corners of the cosmos through the eyes of Superman, from the areas around black holes to the cosmic network lying across billions of light years.
